Prince is by many regarded as the best live performer the world has ever seen. He has received glowing reviews for his concerts all over the world. Prince has toured extensively throughout his entire career, and he has played in countless cities and venues.

Fact: Since Prince decided to share the spotlight with The Time and Vanity 6, his own sets were record short, only about 60 minutes.

"Prince's concert last night was surprisingly restrained and lamentably short. But, in a sense, that only underscored Prince's greatness"

Fact: During this tour, Prince's relationship with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis from the Time grew sour, and they were fired after the tour. They later went on to become highly successful as composers and producers for Janet Jackson and others.

Fact: The Purple Rain tour was seen by almost 1,7 million people!

Prince received some negative remarks due to the more polished and professional style of this tour, as can be seen here:
"While the show had everyone on their feet most of the time, the conservative approach sacrificed much of the challenge and provocation of Prince's earlier performances"

Fact: After the Purple Rain Tour, Prince announced his retirement from live performing. His manager Steve Fargnoli said:
"Prince's concert April 7th at Miami's Orange Bowl will be his last performance for an indefinite number of years".
