Re: Last Movie I saw...
Saw this one tonight.
Synopsis
Based on the best selling novel by Philippa Gregory, "The Other Boleyn Girl" is an engrossing and sensual tale of intrigue, romance, and betrayal set against the backdrop of a defining moment in history. Two sisters, Anne (Natalie Portman) and Mary (Scarlett Johansson) Boleyn, are driven by their ambitious Father and Uncle to advance the family's power and status by courting the affections of the King of England (Eric Bana).
Leaving behind the simplicity of country life, the girls are thrust into the dangerous and thrilling world of court life -- and what began as a bid to help their family develops into a ruthless rivalry between Anne and Mary for the love of the King. Initially, Mary wins King Henry's favor and becomes his mistress, bearing him two illegitimate children. But Anne, clever, conniving and fearless, edges aside both her sister and Henry's wife, Queen Katherine of Aragon, in her relentless pursuit of the King.
Despite Mary's genuine feelings for Henry, her sister Anne has her sights set on the ultimate prize; Anne will not stop until she is Queen of England. As the Boleyn girls battle for the love of a King -- one driven by ambition, the other by true affection -- England is torn apart. Despite the dramatic consequences, the Boleyn girls ultimately find strength and loyalty in each other, and they remain forever connected by their bond as sisters.
( I got this text off "movienewz" so u know what's it's about.)
* Coming to think of it; this is a very well done post.....( for ME that is,...haha, I usually screw it up and then not even bother no more... )
And to Mike-T.....:" U'll love Scarlett ! "

After the delightful surprise that was Superbad, I started digging into the other movies the crew has been involved with.
Today I saw "Knocked Up", which is another fun movie. Aimed at an older audience than superbad, but I enjoyed it a lot.

I really like the Hours, watch it again from the beginning if you have a chance. Not that you necessarily missed anything, but it's just good, so you might as well see the whole movie.

I am looking forward to the new Indiana Jones movie. Harrison Ford is getting older, but so is Sly Stallone. Didn`t stop him doing another Rocky and Rambo movie
But it would have better if he layed those one to rest, once and for all.

I saw American Beauty today, I had forgotten just how brilliant it is.
A wonderful movie, entertaining, beautiful and thought provoking.
The dialogue is so well written that it actually gives me chills at times.
Brilliant, I'm not gonna wait that long before I watch it again next time.

I saw 'No Country For Old Men', last pic from the Coen bros. Brutal as usual (it's the story of a Texas-Mexico border zone who finds a lot of drug-related money trying to escape from the thrilling killer who wants to get it back) I love Coen bros movies (specially 'The Big Lebowski', 'Fargo' or 'The Hudsucker Proxy') but this is special cuz it includes a thrilling performance of... Javier Bardem, a great spanish actor who I'm sure (not being patriotic at all) he's gonna win the Oscar...

Re: Last Movie I saw...
John Rambo.
I must be one of the few people of a certain age that has not seen First Blood or Rambo, but i liked the way Stalone handles Rocky Balboa so I thought i would give this a go, I didnt think I would have needed to see the 1st 2 to get it & i didnt.
the characters in this are paper thing cartoon cliches, fucking awful, dialogue is pathetic and after reading Ryans review, fuck its violent, i thin possibly the most graphicly realistic & horrific movie I have seen....and I really dont think its justifiable.
I can see both sides of the argument, portray warfare as it really is, gruseome and not romantic at all so thta people know what its like.
And there is a part of me that see's that point completely but I feel it should be done in a more sober way, not in a movie made for entertainment. there is no way that this flick is trying to "educate" people on the genoside of Burma, its hardly even touched on, the violence is in this movie purely to shock and dare I say "entertain" though how any one can be entertained by bodies being torn apart in such a truthful manner is beyond me....
Marks out of 5. -1 no redeming features at all. very dissapointed after the high of Rocky Balboa.

....and here I go again!!!
so...I am the movie martyr...I suffer for you my fams...and sometimes..I discover the rare gem. GOOD NEWS...(for B movie fans like moi) THIS IS ONE OF THOSE TIMES!!!
the movie I saw was a HK import
MEATBALL MACHINE
This film is one that relies on a classic Japanese cinama form known as Tokusatsu, or Kaiju. ( Basically they are movies with large latex and styrofoam monsters.) Though the effects are campy they are well done, and the director takes the movie seriously and does a great job. The movie is well acted and as you might expect from a movie called Meatball machine, that relies on monsters in latex...it is chalk full of crazy fight scenes. The dirctor takes his hat off to classic horror directors such as Sam Raimi, David Cronenburg, and so there is blood and gore galore. The box of the dvd reads " If you are not disturbed by this movie, then you should be incarcerated" Now this movie is not for anyone who has no interest in Campy or Cult movies, but if cult flicks are up your ally And crazy mutant parasite aliens taking over human bodies, and then eating each other is your bag...then by all means...enjoy the meatball machine!! I LOVED THIS FLICK!! It's like a live action Manga comic
I give this flick 3.4 out of 5 twisted lispers.

the story of Ian Curtis singer with Joy Divison. this is an adaptation of the book Ians wife wrote after he killed himself...oops, spoilt the ending!
its OK but i think the movie just skimmed the very top of the surface nd left a lot of detail for us to romantasise ourselves, which is fine especially for Joy Division fans,
It is directed by Anton Corbin so visually it is flawless. well worth seeing.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
We just watched The Brave One. I remember the trailer last year and I knew this movie was a good one. Like Kendra said, good Vigilante Movie.
Terrance Howard & Jodie Foster both gave award winning performances. I don't get Our Motion Picture Academy, Why couldn't he be nominated for a role of serious character like this one instead of the pimp in Hustle & Flow? It's like all of the really good roles that Denzel rocked but he get's nominated for Training Day and wins?
Yet Malcolm X, Much Ado About Nothing, & Devil In A Blue Dress get totally overlooked.
It really irritate me off how biased the Academy is. Jodi Foster & terrance both should be up for Awards, as should Don Cheadle for Talk To Me.. Idiots!

I agree. I think Denzel should have got an award for Malcolm X. Speaking of Denzel just saw AMERICAN GANGSTER the EXTENDED version. Really good, all star cast and of course as usual Denzel played a good Bad Ass. It seems the crooked roles he gets recognized for more.

Charlie Wilsons War.
Probably the best I've ever liked Tom Hanks in a movie, he really did this part well!
Philip Seymour Hoffman has received much hype lately, and he shows why with this movie. He totally nails the part, and brings a lot of life and character to a potentially boring role.
Fun movie in general, not at all what I expected. It's very entertaining, despite it's very serious topic. Most of the credit for the entertainment goes directly to the actors.

Gavin Hood, whose "Tsotsi" became the first film from the former Apartheid state to win an Academy Award, makes his Hollywood debut directing first-time screenwriter Kelley Sane's multi-layered story, "Rendition," centering on a CIA analyst based in Cairo who finds his world spinning out of control after he witnsses the interrogation of a foreign national by the Egyptian secret police. Witherspoon has been tapped to play Isabella El-Ibrahim, the pregnant American wife of an Egyptian-born chemical engineer whose family emigrated to the States in the mid 1980s, who is shipped off to a third world country for interrogation after he is deemed a political prisoner in our post-9/11 world. "Rendition" stars three Oscar winners - Meryl Streep, Reese Witherspoon and Alan Arkin, as well as Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal.

I actually really enjoyed this movie! Good suspense, a fun twist to the story-telling, and some really exciting battle scenes.
The entire film is viewed from the perspective of a guy carrying a hand-held camera, which gives it a unique feel.
Cool story too, although a bit far fetched.

I actually really enjoyed this movie! Good suspense, a fun twist to the story-telling, and some really exciting battle scenes.
The entire film is viewed from the perspective of a guy carrying a hand-held camera, which gives it a unique feel.
Cool story too, although a bit far fetched.
Black Witch Project for a new generation
I saw this awhile back. Yes it's very exciting, but i couldn't stand the constant camera shaking. Entertaining none the less.

Both interesting films. In to the Wild, great directing by Sean Penn.
Why Did I Get Married is kind of an intellectual couple's film. And Janet Jackson is really great in this movie.

This is a really funny movie. Its a little slow in the beginning. The Pig face scene is hilarious; I wonder if it was improvised.
Both of these I wanted to see. Dan is real life's trailer was really funny.

Endre was right this movie is so so funny. Having a head cold and all I laughed so much it felt like my Head was going to explode!

And The Nanny Diaries.... What a disappointment. This movie pissed me off on so many levels. The best part was seeing Alicia Keys acting chops, and the ending!

I had some difficult to understand that nose deep texan accent (specially Tommy Lee Jones, he does it great, I don't know if he's a texan) specially without any spanish subtitles, but i catched the overall argument very well. And Javier Bardem performance most of the time is not based on speaking, though texan people may say if he was credible as a texan since he didn't speak any english (in any accent)before.

Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes, Robert Duvall
The cast alone makes this Movie. Joaqun Phoenix is amazing in this. This s/l was really an excellant study in Family, loyalty, Attonement, and Vengence makes this a must see film. I hate that we missed this on bigscreen. But it was stil great late last night on PPV.

TEETH![]()
Many who know me know that I love B-films...and many times there are clear differences between a B, and an "independant"...and most of those differences lie in the cinimatorgraphy the quality of the film...if it is on film at all. This movie Teeth was released in limited venues, and many festivals..of which it won cudos and awards. It is a comming of age story of a woman who suffers from Vagina dentata http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vagina_dentata
The movie is part horror part comedy, and does well in both arenas taking it self seriously in a manner that leaves the viewer in stitches. The movie is not graphic in any way...simply gross..well shot and well acted by a group of new commers I hope to see again.
In terms of my quest for the ultimate killer B movie...I would have to rank this one up in the top 5 ( as a matter of fact...I'll top 5 the topic also)...and give this one FIVE TWISTED LISPERS>>>RENT IT!

My Youtube brain isn't prepared for movies at this pace anymore. I got bored, and I didn't find the story interesting at all.
The movie failed to grab my attention, which is not surprising as there is no real story to grab on to. Sure it's about inner demons and a desire for success, and parallells can be drawn to Brad Pitt's struggle with paparazzi and young kids of today whose dream is to "become famous" at any price... but I still think it could've been made more enjoyable and entertaining.
The same can be said for "No Country for old men" and to a degree about "There will be blood". They are, to me, so ambitious in their quest for "epicness" that they lose touch of the entertainment value. It doesn't even have to be entertainment, but at least interesting and with a purpose. It's undeniable that all these movies have great acting, great photography, great scenes and a big budget. But they still leave me unfulfilled.

There is no way the Cones would simply strive for epicness. No Country is a perfect adaption of the novel, it has the same pace & atmosphere & fits perfectly with the other Coen movies. (...and $ 25 million is not a big budget.)
Both Jesse James & No Country are very poetic in their own ways (& not in the artsy fartsy kinda way). Fcaurs they're slow paced but far from uninteresting.

I can see what Endre is talking about. More with Jessie James than the No country..but definitley with There will be blood. I think that one of the reasons that I liked Jessie james ( even though the story was truely almost non existant) is that JJ is an american folklore Idol. Yarns have been spun about his fantastic acts of criminality for what seems like forever, and this filmed gave me a voyeristic feeling that we where watching the criminal himself..perhaps even getting an idea of what he was really like. ( though I doubt he was like that at all it was very entertaing for me.) There will be blood did strive to reach EPIC movie proportions..and in my opinion in alot of way suceeded...but I think that No country was a plain tale of social decay in america. The escalating technology and voilence in our culture make people numb to each other and their surroundings often leaving them with nothing but the persuit of money...or their own happiness which is often set off by money..for me No Country was a brilliant film and out of all those mentioned I saw this No country multiple times, and the breath taking filmaking did not cease to be awe aspiring.

The Mist was first unbelievable. Then it caught my interest, the end is shocking and a bit upsetting. A lot of people either loved this movie or hated it.

Lars & The Real Girl
In this comedy, Lars Lindstrom is an awkwardly shy young man in a small northern town who finally brings home the girl of his dreams to his brother and sister-in-law's home. The only problem is that she's not real - she's a sex doll Lars ordered off the Internet. But sex is not what Lars has in mind, but rather a deep, meaningful relationship. His sister-in-law is worried for him, his brother thinks he's nuts, but eventually the entire town goes along with his delusion in support of this sweet natured boy that they've always loved.
this movie is brilliant, it isnt really a comedy more a very poigniant drama with funny bits, although the actual scenario is very funny.
Ryan Gosling plays Lars and plays him so well, this movie really is brilliant had me laughing and crying all the way through a MUST see.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
Because I am a movie dork...love em all no matter how bad..I searched and searched for the rare 1991 never released superhero flick Captain America. Made as a response to the DC film Batman, directed by Tim Burton, this stinker was shelved before it hit theaters. It was Directed by....who the hell knows...I think the same guy that directed the A-team tv show, and stars...well..no one...these people have never been seen before or since..and it is a small wonder.
It was not the incredibly bad plot, or the muscle padded rubber suit (in fact the suit was one of the better parts of the flick) that made this movie horrible. It was the fact that no one in the film is recognizable...in fact only perhaps two of the people in the flick could even be accused of being "actors" without busting a grin. Most of the movie was filmed in Italy ( probably because the budget prohibited it from being filmed in the US, but that is not entirely bad...because the bad guys Italian accents where the most authentic part of the movie...and the Italian babes with twenty two caliber handguns where kinda cute...in a late 1980's kinda way.
Despite the fact our american hero..never really spent any time in the US, ran away from little women with small guns, faked car sickness to steal cars, and got beat up more than he kicked ass the producers still had the audacity to refer to this film as a superhero flick. I think, quite honestly I am more courageous than this version of Steve Rodgers just for having the courage to watch this hot turd in it's entirety.
Still suffering for the fams
Nate![]()
btw...this flick gets no love, no devil heads, and no repeat viewing....okay...I'm a masochist...I'll watch it again

Re: Last Movie I saw...
I saw 88 Minutes last nite, purely because of Al Pachino's involvement.
It was 100% run of the mill crime-movie.
A psychiatrist that works with the police receives a phone call that gives him 88 minutes to live. The remaining minutes he runs into a series of suspects and has to solve the mystery himself to save his life.
A plot like this belongs in a one hour tv-show, not a movie.
I also watched an old comedy, Click with Adam Sandler.
I was up at 5am and wasn't prepared for anything that would require brain activity, so any Adam Sandler movie would do nicely!
In this movie Adam Sandler finds a remote that lets him control everything around him (yes... it's a documentary).
It was quite entertaining at times, and I especially enjoyed it when he kept bullying the annoying kid next door

I saw "click" a while ago and too enjoyed it hugely as I do with pretty much all Adam Sandler movies.
If you havent already seen it Endre I fully recommend his remake of "Mr Deeds".
oh and his greatest movie ever, which is a serious role too, "Reign Over Me" with Don Cheedle....superb and he looks like Bob Dylan in it too.

Well since I've been away I've seen:
Iron Man -- Fucking awesome! Best Marvel flik so far.
Speed Racer -- It was okay. It looked nice, but was way too long.
Prince Caspian -- Amazing! I think it was better than the 1st movie. I'm a HUGE fan of the Narnia books & I think the movies are a great representation of them.

I saw Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull today.
It was okay. I'm not crazy about the Indiana Jones movies, & I thought this was the least entertaining. It's cool that the story was more sci-fi, but it didn't make much sense (I'm not going to spoil it for those that still haven't seen it yet).
& I'm never the mushy type, so I hated the feel-good-wrap-it-all-up-in-a-nice-little-bow happy ending.
But the action & special effects were good!

The first one was the best.
I've seen a few trailer's and they just don't make any sense. LOL I expected great special effects. I'm going to pass just from the trailers.
We saw Ironman twice already!

Finally saw "Reign over me" with Adam Sandler and Don Cheedle.
WOW intense and fantastic. Adam Sandler is a very under rated actor. Yeah he's a comedian but his dramatic roles are superb. He was also great in Punch Drunk Love.

This weekend I saw:
& I loved it! Though I don't like many "girly" things, I'm a HUGE fan of the show. So it was only natural that I see the movie too. Though it was almost 3 hours long it was entertaining from beginning to end.

The Take
A little indie heist flick starring my man Johnny Legz. With a strong cast and a decent script the director gives us a good effort. With no lighting tech the scenes at times can be a bit dark..but the stellar cast makes up for the directors newberty. If you like a good indie hiest flick...check this out.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
Today we saw THE HAPPENING
M. Night Shyamalan totally just wasted my time. I was so expecting something! Answers, a great ending something!
What a waste of talent. I keep hoping for a flick as Good as Signs.. So far Nothing.![]()
Here's a review from Elizabeth Weitzman The Daily Entertainment News.
Listen up: I'm about to reveal the big twist at the end of "The Happening," the new sci-fi mystery from M. Night Shyamalan. So if you don't want to know what it is, consider this fair warning and move along to the next review. Seriously. It's coming up now.
Ready?
The big twist is that ... there's no twist at all. None. Zip. Nada.
Now, Shyamalan - who made his name with "The Sixth Sense" - is hardly required to provide us with a double-take moment in every movie. But if he's not going to offer much in the first 88 minutes, he'd better deliver big-time before wrapping things up.
Since he doesn't, you deserve to know now - not after you've waited an hour and a half for a payoff that never arrives.
Things kick off on a sunny morning in Central Park, when crowds of people suddenly start killing themselves. This scene soon repeats itself along the East Coast, apparently as the result of some mysterious, mind-altering toxin.
Terrorists are blamed, but Philadelphia science teacher Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg) suspects there's an ecological explanation that implicates us all. Unfortunately, Shyamalan's script is so shallow that survival matters more than any solution. So Elliot and his wife (Zooey Deschanel) grab the abandoned daughter (Ashlyn Sanchez) of his best friend (John Leguizamo), and simply run from town to town in search of shelter.
Shyamalan always serves as his own writer, director and producer, a choice that indicates either unfailing competence or extreme egotism. Let's just say that competence is in short supply here.
The film never builds past its initial idea, the references to 9/11 feel cheap, the good actors are wasted, and the bad ones are distracting (just try to ignore the mugging extras in every scene). Oddest of all, the pacing is so amateurish that this thriller has hardly any actual thrills.
The final explanation, which comes as no surprise, is more preposterous than profound. If you want to see a scary movie about humans wreaking havoc on their planet, watch "An Inconvenient Truth" instead

This dvd was 6 stories of the Batman, it was kinda like what the Animatrix was to Matrix reloaded... a little tease before the big flick....the art was cool..the stories where too short....over all it was not as good as I had hoped but still the best DC Universe direct to DVD so far.![]()

We Saw Wanted On Sunday.... Very Good Movie...Very Graphic... Lots of Action
And Today We Saw HANCOCK!!!
Will Smith is funny as Hell in this Movie. he plays a drunk, bumbling, Superbad Super Hero with a nasty attitude.
Excellent flick that took a very interesting turn in the last 30 mins. I smell a sequel.

Jaaa, jaaa!!
Best film of the year so far! Incredible performances I agree but in the end Ralph Fiennes really steals it.
He reminds me of Peter Cook in this for obvious reasons, that's why I posted the "Horn" clip not too long ago.
One of my favourite scenes (so many to choose from) is the conversation between Ken and Harry before they go up the tower.

Last saw ,in this order- from last to first
Batman ****
Wall-E *****
Love guru ***
Hancock **
Zohan *
I'm still thinking about the impact of Batman, it was good. But I'm still not sure if I really enjoyed it. It had action, but why do super hero movies always give the main charater the ability to fall from high places and live.
Where as the bad guys can fall off a bar-stood and break they're neck
---
Wall-E the best animated/cartoon movie I have ever seen, Amazing (and I hate animated movies)
--
Love Guru- was simple fun, and very clean compared to modern movies.
--
Hancock-time will reveal this as a shallow movie
--
Zohan- Wtf, were my thoughts every 30 seconds.
Stupid,Stupid and Stupid. How many times do we need to see Adam's crotch.
1 is more that enough. I didn't count ,but it was way too many.
I wanted to burn the theater down after this movie, actually I just wanted to leave, and should have.

Went to see Hancock today - totally meaningless, illogical fun, it was great entertainment. I laughed out loud quite a lot of times
Only thing that was a bit creepy - I was totally alone in the room (afternoon showing in original tone), which was room number 6 - and my ticket said seat 6 in row 6

THE WIZARD OF GORE!
This movie is a remake of a cult classic. When the movie first started I immediately loved the use of color and the stylized cinamatography. This movie was made on a shoe string budget...much like the original but takes the viewer on a trip of mind bending brilliance. I have not thoroughly loved a movie that I was not sure I completely understood since the last David Lynch film I watched. I would have to say anyone who loves horror, or Crispen Glover, or the suicide girls or movies in general ( I think that is everyone now
) should at least rent this gem!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaand here we go!
so for your critical reading pleasure I bring you....
NEVER CRY WEREWOLF
Where to begin with this one. I did not really expect too much from this...for me the selling point was KEVIN SORBO! ( I shit u not...hey...what can I say...I love cheese..and the title and the lead actor made this dvd smell like gouda)
This one had pretty poor story line, somewhat predictable with that 1980's feel to it. The flick was a write off until the middle of the film when headline actor KEVIN SORBO makes his appearance, and he is in the rest of the flick too! After ex hurcules actor makes his screen presencse this booger picks up and hilarity and sci fi action ensue. This is not going to win any oscars folks..but it was very very entertaining.
If I had it to do again...ID WATCH IT!!

not that good, quite thin really and almost insulting to Spaniards and Americans on some levels.
Pene Cruz is superb though, its worth seeing for her.
&
I LOVE "The 40 Year Old Virgin" & "Superbad" this movie is OK, has some really good touched ala "40" & "Superbad" but it lacks in something, the other 2 are movies I have watched a fair few times but this one I will be surprised if I see again.

Ladykillers is the worst Coen film so far. It's not horrible, it's just bad compared to their other films.
Germans dub everything too. Sometimes the voices don't fit the actors, and what's worst is the fake tone in their voices they apply to the dubbing. I once talked to an actor who does a lot of dubbing and he said it's like an unwritten rule here that when you dub a film or a show you put on this serious, weird-sounding guttural voice.
It drives me insane! Country of ignorants. The same people who butcher the best films when they show them on tv. With 50 commercial breaks, animated ads in the corner of the screen, and cutting off the end credits, sometimes even the last scene!!
Rant over.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
So I just saw
Sukiyaki Western Django (say that five times fast.)
Where to begin. When I first heard of this ultra stylized film I immediately had to search it out and watch it. When I got my hands on it, it was initially exactly what I thought it would be. A hokey tongue in cheek homage to the American western. The ridiculous idea that the American prospecting culture that was prevalent in the old us westerns, not only exists but all of the caricatures of the culture also thrive. If you can get past the idea that the western culture did not exist, and the seeming anachronisms with weaponry and style, then you can truly enjoy what I am not afraid to call a great movie. The entire cast speaks English throughout the movie, and it is obviously not everyones first language...so that to me was impressive. Moments of comic relief occur when the actors unknowingly put the emphasis on the wrong syllable, or simply say an old American slang term incorrectly. Between the great action, the brilliant direction and a superb job done by all of the cast...I feel this unknown jem will go down in the annals of cinematic history as one of the best..if not the only one...of it's kind.![]()

I saw Intolerable Cruelty last night, and it was perhaps even funnier now than the first time I saw it!
George Clooney is just amazingly funny in this movie, his lines and expressions are hillarious throughout the entire flick.
Highly recommended if you haven't seen it yet.

I really like this moview too, it doesnt really have a Coen feel to it, but like u say Clooney is brilliant init, I have really warmed to him as an actor over the years, I think now he is more comfortable that he is chosing much more rewarding roles.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
I watched this last night:
Summer of Sam (1999)
I've seen this film mulitple times; pretty entertaining. John Leguizamo's character is truly unlikable while on the other hand Adrian Brody's character is the most interesting.
The film can get rather weird at times (talking dog, anyone?) but it's a entertaining period piece.

I had to watch and form an opinion about the flick
RELIGULOUS
Now...those of you who know me know that I am a very religious person. I am no evangelical..but not afraid to proselytize, though I am aware of the unwanted nature of this behavior to many. While watching this film a few things jumped out at me. The film is not so much about religion as much as it is about Atheism and it's views of religion. Bill Maher effectively shows the hipocrisy in modern religion through a series of interviews with various holey representatives of them. The interviews range from those with very prominent religions to those of relatively obscure religions, and each does not fail to illuminate the perceived ridiculousness of the believer. This is not wholly unpalatable. I do not believe in Catholicism, or any protestantism, or any organized religion for that matter simply god. The failure for many of these religions to "practice what they preach" is made obvious through Mr. Maher's cynical approach. The perceived ridiculousness of faith, by Bill Maher, is the one trick that this pony does, and does well. He succeeds in embarrassing A protestant worshiper, angering an Islamic holey man, mocking a "recovering homosexual' ( I gotta laugh at that one...a recovering homosexual
) and just plain outting Jesus Christo' of Puerto Rico who claims to be the Christ incarnate, yet is as eloquent as a used diaper, and probably just as holey. The best was the inquisition regarding finance to an African american preacher who wore gold, jewels and high fashion, Bill pointed out the scriptures ( which funnily he knew better than the preacher) and the preachers failure to follow the path laid out by Jesus of Nazareth....and the preacher simply said...no...the lord wants me to have money...it was classic.
I liked this film, for what it was. It attempted to be an honest look at the violence in the world and how allot of it is created and perpetuated by religious people. This is a glaring point of hipocricy in most if not all organized religions. It also tried to illuminate the fact that the bible is simply a book written, edited by men, to control others...and not "the word of God" as literally believed in many religious circles.
To a large degree I agree with the message of this film, and would suggest it to anyone who likes political satire, Bill maher, or is interested in seeing these interviews...which are worth the price of the rental. My favorite part of the film is when an interview is held outside of Vatican City, which our host was quickly thrown out of. The interview is with an older, yet still active, Catholic priest. Bill gives him the hard questions, and he answers candidly and honestly. He did not refute Bill, but was obviously a believer and a realist...and though not a catholic...I could relate. My least favorite moment is when Bill went to a roadside "truckers chapel" which was simply a small trailer converted into a makeshift place of warship. Bill entered the space, and soon took a position by the pulpit. There where only about four of five men there to worship and bill asked if he could ask a few questions. The questions where back handed, and given the situation quite cruel. The men that where there where looking for time to commune with their god, and Bill turned it into his time...one of the men was so upset that he left...returned to his truck...and undoubtedly the long road he knows well. I did not like that particular action on the part of Bill Maher because I felt that the place looked like a place where people with nothing but loneliness could find some peace...and Bill took that from this man.
In the end though Bill said nothing to me that would make me waver in my belief of the almighty in the slightest, and I guess that is why they call what I hold dear...faith.![]()

Re: Last Movie I saw...
I, and probably Bruce Springsteen too, agree with most of what you said about Religilous, Lisper.
I saw the movie in full only a few weeks ago, and it did deliver some laughs and all that.
This movie can't really be seen as serious in any way, if they attempted that they failed. It was a humorous movie about religious people, dealing low blows here and there and not really giving anyone a chance to answer for themselves. If anyone had given a good answer during filming, I bet they edited it out.
In short, I felt that they ridiculed religious people too much, and didn't show them enough respect on a personal level (as the trucker's scene showed blatantly).
Personally I have no problem with lack of respect for religions, but I do think it's important to respect the people who hold those faiths none the less.
If you want a serious movie about the christian faith, check out the movie "the god that wasn't there".

I saw the flick
CHOCOLATE
This one is from the director of Ong Bak Thai warrior, and The PROTECTOR. I went into this expecting that it would have mind blowing fight corriography, and stellar stunt work, and I was not dissappointed, in fact far from it. Outside of the expected fair from this director..this movie was a true advancement in his over all ability to make a 'solid film'.
Where his past films failed, with charector development, plot line, story archs and most other aspects of the writing. This one hit the mark.
This is a story of a young girl with a learning disorder who's parents are gangsters. She lives next to a dojo, and spends her youth mimicing what she watches in the classes. Long story short when the girls mother takes ill because of adverse reaction to medicine the young girl takes it upon herself to go around and collect all of her mothers outstanding depts. Though the story will win no points for originality, it is a solid story and very entertaining as such. The mastery of martial arts that the young and talented lead actress displays is mindblowing, and the pace and speed of the coreography is only inhanced by alterd playback speed of the film. This film has many of my favorite hallmarks in film. A seedy story. Clever charectors, and a chick that can kick complete ass!!
I give it three and a half twisted Lipsers...ahhh![]()

Re: Last Movie I saw...
Okay...so if you cats don't knowz bai now...I luvs the superhero flicks...and the animations. So far DC comics has missed the mark with two sub par entries, that of SUPERMAN DOOMSDAY, and JUSTICE LEAGUE THE FINAL FRONTIER. But I have good news to my fellows inhabitants of geekland...DC has finally done it!! The latest direct to DVD release by Warner brothers and DC comics was
WONDER WOMAN
I went into this with no expectations...no wait that's not true....I fully expected this to be a complete waste. I thought if they cant get Superman right..then the odds of them doing right by this property is slim to none. All I know of Wonder woman is the Linda Carter television show, and the Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid, but DC has brought a bold new envisioning of the character. One that fan boys will love and girls can look up to as the wholesome superhero role model she has always tried to be...though the violence in the movie may be a bit much for the very young.
The show begins with an exceptionally well animated and choreographed war scene between Ares the god of war and the Amazons ( nuff said fellow 'con goers) and the action does not stop. This was the most action packed of all of the recent direct to DVD affairs from the comic companies...yes marvels ULTIMATE AVENGERS included. I don't want to give anything away, but they take the ridiculous idea of a princess goddess superhero who runs around in porn star clothes...and make it make sense...not only that they make it work in a major way. In short not only was I entertained..but I was thoroughly impressed by DC's new offering and as me anxiously awaiting their next release in June.

Rented this on iTunes yesterday. And for the record - I'm utterly disappointed.
For those who don't know - I am a 'converted' atheist (used to be catholic and believed it, until I learned about philosophy) OR agnostic, still working on figuring that one out for myself.
Anyway, I was hoping for a witty movie with class and objectivity, pointing out the craziness of religious madness and absurdities.
But the way this pseudo-intellectual jerk behaved throughout the movie just screamed ARROGANCE.
He doesn't let people finish their sentences, he bluntly attacks them and then leaves them standing there with no chance to fire back, doesn't discuss fairly, does not await answers and most importantly DOES NOT LISTEN.
He just talks out of his script no matter what and doesn't engage in fair dialogue at all.
Now I think religious fanatics are a bad thing, just like any other fanatic.
BUT not everybody who is religious is a fanatic, and THAT is exactly the way he is trying to make his interview partners look like - especially the muslim woman he talked to in Amsterdam. That part made me furious. She obviously is an intelligent individual (in how far that goes together with accepting muslim rules for female behaviour is another question I am not going to get into now) and he just blunders on about how all muslims are killers and all. And doesn't let her finish her sentences.
That film is NOT fun, it's NOT satire, it's NOT witty - it's embarassing and disrespectful, because no matter what belief you have or don't have - treating people the way they treat you, respect them the way they respect you and LETTING THEM TALK WHILE INTERVIEWING THEM IS MANDATORY !!!
Boy, this movie upset me. Had me wanting to throw up from about the tenth minute till finish.
That guy should have stuck with his Standup act, at least that doesn't involve having to heed the rules of conversation.

Having seen this film being teased at a horror con a few years back..when I got the chance to actually watch the film I was excited. It was a super low budget horror...with some pretty decent make up and gore effects. It had okay camera work..but the audio and the lighting was inconsistent. The story was not original..but it was okay until the third act...at which point it kinda fell apart...and the ending was just simply horrible. Over all...it's probably not worth viewing. So lucky for you ...I suffer for the fams.![]()

and it was awful. I couldn't even get through half. I read all 4 books voraciously - loved the tension and the character development.
then watched a flat, boring, uninspired, b-movie quality version in the movie. Seriously, i was really disappointed. The guy who played Edward was no charming vampire, and Bella was just a brooding, single-emotion character.

TYSON
This is a documentary about the rise and fall of the youngest and possibly the greatest heavy weight fighter of our time, Mike Tyson. I am a huge fight fan, and can truely understand the sadness in the story of the life of Mike Tyson. This documentary is a pretty straight forward one, narrated by the fighter himself, and given in an interview format. I was shocked to see how candid Mike is and how he is completely aware of how he fucked up one of the greatest boxing careers in history. This film is well researched, well written, nicely shot and the subject matter is to say the least compelling.
OKAY FAMS YOU HAVE NOT SEEN ME DO THIS IN A WHILE
I am going to read the future and say this documentary WILL WIN THE OSCAR
for those of you who have been keeping count...in my history with pfams I have only be incorrect in "guessing the future" once...and that is when I said Mike Huckabee would be the democratic nominee for president...boy am I glad I got that one wrong.

superb movie a definite MUST see.
Bride Wars
killed sometime with this one, not as bad as I thought it would be but not wonderful either, as expected.
Role Models
I enjoyed this one much, wouldnt buy it, but enjoyed it & would watch again.
The Wrestler
thought this would be ace, had great reviews but it really was bad, extremely dull and slow. I honestly coudnt give a flying fuck about a single character.

I watched "Bride Wars" this weekend. As Pigg said, it killed some time - had a few cute moments in it, but certainly mediocre. 5/10
I also saw "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" for the second time. What a freakin great movie. Pure Greek tragedy in a modern situtaion. 10/10. It's about a botched robbery and the fallout and the decisions that people are forced to make when they begin lying and plotting. I recommend this one to everyone.
I also caught Will Smith's " Seven Pounds". Took a minute for the plot to warm up, but it was riveting by the end. I am always amazed at how versitile he is. 9/10

Watched Superman 4 the quest for peace again...
Last time I saw this flick was when it was in the theaters...and even then as a child I thought it sucked. In re-watching it...I was right. As usual Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor was awesome, Even John Cryer as lil nephew Luthor was very entertaining. I never really liked Reeve as Superman...I know...I know...but Superman 2 would have been great if anyone played it...I truly believe that. Nuclear man sucked sunspots...and the writing and direction of Quest for Peace was horrid. For true fan boys only.

I can understand how you might have fallen asleep during the movie, because the movie was kind of slow, but it was the moral of the story that captured me. ''Madea Goes To Jail'' is not my favorite movie ever, however, it was enjoyable to watch with my nephew, and again the moral of the story is what made me enjoy watching it, more so than the movie in itself. You mentioned that you like his plays better than his movies, the plays are sometimes better than the movies, but it's great to see his work in a differnt form. ''Why Did I Get Married'' was a great movie, and i agree with you when you said you really enjoyed it, it was a highly enjoyable movie. It was inspiring, encouraging, and motivating, this in my opinion is what makes Tyler Perry's work so popular.

Re: Last Movie I saw...

Though the movie TAKEN is still making about 5 million a weekend, and will be released on DVD and BLU-RAY..the release of STAR TREK has now knocked it out of the best movie of the summer spot.
STAR TREK is a re-working and re-imagining of the original series. It is to say the least brilliant. Great acting, great writing, and visuals that are simply stunning. Eric Banna gives the best performance of his career as NERO, and the rest of the recognizable ensemble are simply brilliant. The star Trek not only takes you back to the original crew, but brilliantly allows for new stories with the same old characters because of it's great writing.
Im still Nerdgasming over this...CHECK IT OUT!

The Brothers Bloom
Tis the season of the summer blockbuster..but still smaller films can get their come-up-ins. The Brothers bloom is a quirky, clever beautifully shot film about Con Artists, eccentricities, and living life. This was a great little gem of a movie with outstanding performances by all...but Rachel Weisz and Rinko Kikuchi really stood out. I would recommend it for anyone who loves a good film...or is simply tired of the blow em up blockbusters that get all the attention this time of year.![]()

Only cuz my life is so completely fuckkkin' rockin' can I tell you that I really have non and the following is a list of my latest conquests of visual entertainment. I been real busy folks!!! ![]()
I'll Try to keep this short and painless.
Terminator Salvation
I initially enjoyed this flick. In the viewing it kicked complete ass...but this is where my lack of a social life kicks in. In the realm of terminator this movie kinda blows ass chunks. Sure while your sittin there with your goobers and popcorn and cute Hispanic chick who can't get enough of you...you are loving this movie!!!! But the reality is that this movie is no better than the soon to come Micheal bay Transformers extravaganza...a bunch of awesome effects....cool machines...and a story line that is so contrived that it fails to completely allow suspension of disbelief. Even Transformers will be better, as they will stick to the mythology. Lisper is not impressed. And I refer to myself in the third person because I detest the destruction of a brilliant story plot line as much as I detest all of the collar poppin', Chad in the first person callin', popcorn eatin' movie bullshit of the rest of the douche bags who say they got the shit. Terminator is nothing if the idea of time travel is not relevant.
I also saw a flick I been dyin' to see.....
LIMITS OF CONTROL
This movie had me tantalized since I had first heard about it. When first I had a chance to see it...I went to the Brothers Bloom instead. The anticipation that I had built up for this film was so large that nothing could possibly satisfy. The film was excellently shot, brilliantly acted..and sparsely written. To say that it is a difficult subject to capture would be an understatement. I am not sure that I completely understand it...but those who know..know that this is the way of the director. Perhaps he is simply too abstract. Perhaps he taps into a carnality that we fear to approach. Or perhaps...I did not understand this film. But I liked it.

Re: Last Movie I saw...

I just watched a movie called "Autumn", it's a zombie movie staring Dexter Fletcher who U might remember as "Soap" the chef from "Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels"
It has 2 be said that the whole zombie movie idea is pretty much a done deal by now. There are 101 zombie movies 2 choose from and unless a movie has an edge like the humour of "Shawn Of The Dead" or the tension of "28 Days Later" new additions 2 the genre are generally pretty poor and pointless. This movie however takes that concept 2 a whole new level. Now I know this film was made by an independent film company on a very tight budget but 2 me that's no excuse 4 this drivel. The zombies are about as scary as the ones from MJ's "Thriller" video and the acting is like watching a bad porno but without the sex.
This movie is truly terrible and even a cameo by the late great David Caradine can't save it. David Caradine's inclusion in this movie is pointless, predictable and a slur on his memory. 2 think that this was the movie that was released at the time of his death is nothing less than a complete travesty.
Honestly b4 I would recommend this film 2 U, I would recommend that U cover U're eyes with jam and stick U're head in a wasps nest 4 an hour or so, believe me U're time will be better spent.

Dude...I shit you not I was just gunna order this flick...thanks for the heads up!
I saw in the theater
DRAG ME TO HELL
Should have been called drag me to hilarity....not as scary as it was funny but fans of Sam Raimi will love it....I did.
and on DVD
EL MUERTO ( US release "the dead one")
This movie got panned by critics when it was released and never saw a wide release here in he US. I got it cuz I love comic book movies...and though El Muerto is not a well known property it is a comic. I thought it was really good. Better than I had expected and well worth the 3USD I spent on the used copy I picked up. Nothing new here but very entertaining.
and
After many many years sitting on the Weinstien brothers shelf...the return of Micky Rourke to the spotlight has given fans of John Madden, Elmore Leneord, and gritty crime drama a chance to see this near masterpiece. The orignal film, slated to come out in 2005 was a more robust film, with scenes with Johnny Knoxxville of Jackass fame that had the internet buzzing. Unfortunately none of those scenes are in this version of the movie. This movie is of a hitman who takes an apprentice and attempts to keep his life from falling apart..like his brothers. Rourke is great ( and in my opinion always delivers) Gordon Levitt ( Cobra Commander in this years G.I. JOE film) is simply brilliant as a non thinking ner' do well, and with Diane Lane, Rosario Dawson, Thomas Jane adding to major support...this movie would have to completely miss the mark to suck. Fortunately for us, it hits the mark...even if the target was slightly altered befor it's release...if it ever comes out as a directors cut...it is a must buy.
and
POWDER BLUE
I bought this film simply because of my faith in the cast, and I am very glad I did. This film is unlike most any other as it deals with a topic that most films avoid...that of desperation. The film follows the lives of four characters all in the throws of desperation. The film was beautifully acted, well written, and had a ton of really good shots...I feel the director did over use the blue filter ( I am assuming to be kitsch with the title) but this does not distract too much from the overall film. While not a new book...or even a new chapter, this film does succeed in taking the viewer to the depths of the dire straits of the characters. I enjoyed it very much and would suggest it to any film lover who wants to see a flick...just outside of feel good.
and before anyone asks...no I have no life...I just sit around and watch movies.![]()

There is a scene where the main character attends a funeral and ends up in a hellish ordeal with the corpse, yet in the very next shot she is just stood there seemingly unaffected by what she had just been through.
No way sister... If that had really happened, especially with all the fluid going in2 her mouth like that, it would be a life changing experience that U would probably never get over.
Other than that I thought it was OK. No where near the "Evil Dead" trilogy but OK.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
I just watched a good one.

I watched "The Mist" last night and I gotta say I loved it. It was well written, well acted and well made. Thomas Jane (The Punisher) continues 2 impress me with each movie I see him in and this one is no exception. He plays an artist who's house is damaged during a freak storm so him and his son go 2 the supermarket 2 get supplies 2 fix the damage. Whilst at the supermarket a thick fog descends upon the town but it is no ordinary mist there is something not nice lurking out there.
Yes the plot has a few holes and yes some of the decisions the survivors make will make U wince but all in all it's a very entertaining movie and a study of how humans react in a survival situation. As Thomas Jane's character says when he is told that people are basically good... "Sure... As long as the machines are working and you can dial 911. But you take those things away, you throw people in the dark, you scare the shit out of them - no more rules."
The best line of the movie though comes from Ollie the store clerk, he says "As a species we're fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up reasons to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion? " Amen.
Damn good movie.

TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3
IN THEATERS
Tony Scott is just getting better with age, and in many ways is beginning to rival if not surpass his father Ridley Scott. This flick was a taught well written, well acted viceral action packed summer spectacular. Relying more on clever film making than special effects Tony Scott takes the viewer into the gritty New York subway station, and forces them to mingle with the ner' do wells. Denzel Washington put on a few pounds to play the monitor jocky train dispatcher, and John Trevolta ( who always rules as a badguy...Face off, Punisher) is simply brilliant as the jilted New Yorker who is looking for payback on the 1:23 pm train to Pelham parkway. I will definitely add this to my dvd collection when it comes out.
ON DVD
Since I was so completely impressed after watching Tony Scott's remake..I found this and gave it a whirl. While alot of the film is the same, the name of the dispatcher and the conductor hell the train robbery scene in the beginning is almost identical! There is enough that is different about this film that warrants a watch. The key differences is that "RYDER" does not exist in this film as he does in the remake, instead each of the train robbers call themselves by colors, Mr. Grey, Mr. Brown, Mr. Red Mr. Green. I can see why Tony Scott did not use this because everyone would think of Reservoir Dogs..and think that it was a rip off of it...not knowing that the book and film of Pelham 123 came out decades before Reservoir Dogs. Some of the subtle plot differences between this and the new one are based on technological differences of the time. While the over all idea of the two films is the exact same the plot unfolds differently..and the ultimate bad guy in the end is different. While Walter Mathaw is no Denzel Washington...and in my opinion is not even close in terms of an actor..the bad guy..Mr.Grey/RYDER who was played by Hector Elizondo in the older version and Travolta in the newer...was immaculately acted in both versions. Though the film is dated, it is still allot of fun and I would recommend it to anyone who likes crime drama...or is just interested in old heist flicks.![]()

I saw Away we go
Easily one of the best romance films I've seen in a long time. To pigeon hole it into the category of Romantic comedy would be unfair as it is so much more. Though it is hilarious at times it is endearing, and heartfelt, with characters that seem like they stepped out of life and onto the screen...a must see.![]()

Ok - fairly interesting plot (but films on this page alone with much more interesting plots...usual suspects (of course). And Diaz playing an adult (for once).
Got roped into this one. sobbed my way through half the movie (in unison with everybody else that was there). It was pathetic! What's even more pathetic is that I let myself manipulate that much by a Hollywood flick. Yeah, sad. But I didn't like it.

Well. I have to say that Meryl Streep was fucking brilliant in this movie. Are you aware that she learned German and Polish just for the film? As well as losing 25lbs to play the concentration camp portion. Beyond that, it was just a delicate and controlled performance. I was totally blown away

I saw this today too. Pretty entertaining, though I knew what to expect going in to it. The chase scene through Paris was the best part of the film -- it was a special effects extravaganza! Ray Parke as Snake Eyes pretty much made the film...he was pure badass.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
I saw another corker 2day and I just had 2 tell U all.

OK, now there are a few things in this movie that U could point at and say WTF but that doesn't distract from the fact that this is a 4kin excellent movie that will keep U glued right till the end. It's basically about aliens that inhabit a slum in Johannesburg and the man assigned with the task of evicting them 2 a new settlement. I know that doesn't make much sense but I'm trying not 2 give 2 much away cuz I know that if U have even a passing interest in the Si-Fi genre then U will love this movie. There are no Hollywood faces at all in this movie and it's all the better 4 it, the lead character is played brilliantly by Sharlto Copley in his first film and I say, give that man an armfull of awards. Special mention should also go 2 the director Neill Blomkamp as this is his first full length feature as well and I think he's really added something special 2 the genre. Check it out on IMDB and read the reviews.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1136608/
Anyway go watch it by whatever means U have at U're disposal and see if U don't come back on this thread talking about how cool it was. Yeah right, see ya soon.

This is yet another female revenge flick ( one of my favorite genras') all of the money in this flick was spent on the cast..and with the likes of Tom Berrenger, Michael Biehn, James Russo ( who I phkin' love and is great in this), William Forsythe, Tom Sizemore..and more...they all play their parts to a tee and make what could have been a very formulaic b flick into tons of fun.![]()

Nerd fact: District 9 was originally supposed to be the Halo movie (a very popular Xbox video game, for those that don't know). But for whatever reason, Microsoft backed out of the deal & the movie people made this movie instead. I'm so glad they did.

yeah that's the one. i agree, being a stunt woman herself made it all the better. i caught it on network tv, but with all the editing and bleeping it lost something in the translation. had to get the dvd to see what i missed, glad i did.

I just saw the flick GAMER
This movie is action packed and fairly stylized. For the first 30 minutes or so I thoroughly enjoyed the clever writing, the fast pace, and the different and interesting approach to the cinematography. There where many many moments in gamer that where quite simply awesome...unfortunately ridiculous plot twists....a corny dance number toward the end ( that's right I said dance number)and just garbage writing keeps this movie on the back burner. If you like brainless actioners then by all means try this one...as it has more brains than allot of the brainless actioners..but this movie is not really a good movie...entertaining...and sometimes interesting...but as a whole not that good.

So...I just saw "Blood and Bone"
This was a lil independent actioner that I picked up cuz I love Micheal Jai White..and I thought it would be fun. The plot was predictable, and a bit flimsy...but it had special guests from the world of MMA, the likes of Kimbo Slice, and Gina ( my secret lover) Currano...so it was high on entertainment in my opinion. There is not much to this film outside of some pretty cool fight scenes. It gets a little slow toward the ends and culminates in a predictable confrontation between the protagonist and antagonist. Nuthin' new but lots of fun...I say if you like action and kung fu flicks..and if the price is right...go for it.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
The Tournament![]()
I picked this up again on the strength of the headlining talent in front of the camera...and am glad I did. This little independently distributed film is a gem..has a little bit of everything for the action movie loving audience. The premise is that every ten years a tournament is held throughout a city that pits the worlds top assassins against each other to the death. ( This idea..though not yet over used is nothing new, and has been done in similar ways in films like "Battle Royale", and more recently "The Condemned" both entertaining...but B.R. is a modern classic.) The Tournament has enough differences to stand on it's own. The cast in general is really talented and do very well with the characters and script, but there are some stand outs. Kelly Hu is simply great, in a performance that rivals if not trumps her butt kicking character in X2, she plays an assassin for the yakuza and looks fabulous in the action scenes...she really sells it. Ian Somerhalder plays a psychopath looking for notoriety, he is an actor I've not seen before but will be sure to keep an eye out for him as he delivers brilliantly...but the best performance by far in this film is delivered by veteran character actor Robert Carlyle, who always delivers...but his star shines bright in his portrayal if a priest who is questioning his calling and gets caught up in the middle of the mass murder parade that is the Tournament. The cast is rounded out with other notable talents.
With Action that takes place in every possible location from rooftops, to street corners, from barrooms to bathrooms this non stop adrenalin rush packs a wallop...and keeps the viewer excited and attention wrapped until the closing credits. This is a keeper for any action movie fan.![]()

Re: Last Movie I saw...
PLAY DEAD
I picked this one up simply because I love independent film...and I haven't seen Chris Klien in too many films that where not comedies. Play Dead is about a frustrated out of work actor who jumps in his car with a destination of nowhere to blow off some steam. He ends up in a town, literally in the middle of nowhere where he stumbles upon some of it's deadly secrets and is forced to use his wits to survive. One of the most interesting things about this film is that though it has comedic moments it is not a comedy, though there is action...it is not really an action movie, though there is palpable drama...it is not a straight drama. This film defies the standard attempts to categorize it and with great results. Play Dead was an exceedingly entertaining film from start to finish. Klien delivers, but the real outstanding performances go to one time heart throb Jake Busey, and former front man of the band "LimpBizket" Fred Durst. In fact Fred Durst put on such a great performance, I had no idea it was him until the credits rolled, it is a shame that this film did not get the distribution that would bring recognition to him...in my opinion he is an up and coming actor to keep an eye out for.

That's all well and good, but it's a worthless reviews if you don't tell me how many twisted Lispers it gets!

This little piece of genius stars Micheal Jai White ( of Spawn Fame, and The Dark Knight Returns), MJW also co-wrote it. Black Dynamite is a modern comic homage to the blacksploitation films done in the late 60's and 70's. The film has everything from the classic "afro centric" dialog, to the horrible acting and editing to the semi porno sounding score, and custom soundtrack ( all done on purpose to mimic the production value of the classic blacksploitation films.) The writing is pitch perfect, and Michael Jai White plays Black Dynamite to a tee. There are tons of cameo appearances from the comedians of hollywood Tommy Davidson being one of the standout supports. Black Dynamite is a treat for the eyes and the funny bone, and in my opinion lets MJW shine in a way that even his staring vehicles have yet to do. If you like exploitation flicks, or Micheal Jai White, or just laughing until you hurt....go out now..and buy Black Dynamite. "Ya Digg?"

Yeah...this flick has some of the most quotable lines ever. Like when the guy with the Shakespearean diction says ( I need to go back to the streets where I come from.)..one of my favorites is in the small scene with the militants where the one actor keeps reciting his action ques.
"The militant turns startled"
"Sarcastically. Oh Really"

Cheese, cheese and more cheese. This is one of the most cliched movies I've seen in a looooong time. It was awful, it was woeful and it was terrible. U know sometimes in a movie U get those scenes where everything is blowing up behind our heros but they manage to stay just a few feet ahead of the explosion and just by the skin of their teeth get away? Well this happens about 20 times in this peice of shit and the rest of the time is made up of people gushing and trying 2 be tear jerky. Woody Harrelson turns in a decent performance as ever but not enough 2 warrent sitting through this bullshit. Avoid it like it's the end of the world.

Well, yesternight I watched a flick called "50 dead men walking", & it's about the IRA.
Decent movie, with good pace, but nothing that hasn't been seen b4 on other IRA stories put on screen.
There is a line that (obviously) brought a smile 2 my face (& a friggin' shout of "YES!!!);
He (the character) asks: "What R Ur favourite bands?"
She: "Morrisey, The Pogues, (...) & U2, of course. Ah! & Prince is great for having sex!"
It's not much, but it's maybe a warm-up 4 my posting in this thread.

SPREAD![]()
I don't know why...not a big Ashton Kutcher fan..in fact I think he is a DOUCHE. Though I have to admit...I've never seem him give a bad performance...and DUDE WHERE'S MY CAR is still one of my favorite films to laugh till I cry over.
SPREAD is another re-telling of the broken dreams of those who move to LA or HOLLYWOOD to make it big and simply end up broke and on the streets...doing what ever they can to survive, another film that stands out with this theme is "WHERE THE DAY TAKES YOU"
Ashton Kutcher plays a penniless Lothario who seduces wealthy women to become a "kept" man. The character he plays is vacuous, egomaniac, and narcissistic....( imho not a huge stretch for Ashton)..and Ashton knocks it out of the park. SPREAD at its very best is unpredictable. Though the themes and some of the characters may seem familiar the direction they take, and the development of them is refreshingly original. Ann Heitch, another Hollywood insider I don't care for is simply amazing in the role of an exceedingly rich bachelorette who keeps the company of Kutcher's character with no allusions as to the relationship.
SPREAD is a character study of youth, ambition, and empathy, growing old and success or the lack there of....and how these things can grow with you, or you can loose them. Well acted by all of the cast members SPREAD was a pleasant surprise..and I'm glad I took the time to check it out...it's not suited for all audiences as it does have a lot of adult subject matter in it, but none of it gratuitous and all works exceptionally well in this well made well told story of Dreams, and awakenings.![]()

Why Oh why am I not surprised... I wouldn't spend a cent on anything Emmerich does. Especially since seeing The day after tomorrow.
That one alone was enough cheese for my entire life
I say - cut the tomorrow and give me some good, old-fashioned The day after - that's pretty much my stance on end-of-world-stories.

I saw a great South Korean movie called Gwoemul (The Host)
I watched a youtube clip of Quentin Tarrantino listing his top 20 movies that have been released since he started directing movies. I listed his choices and have been going through the list one by one... (I can highly reccomend the Japanese movie "Battle Royale" QT's No1 choice. Violent and brilliant.)
So this movie was in that list and thank U Quentin, cuz I love this movie. It's a monster movie and a family saga. The CGI effects are excellent and the monster is very well designed. There is some over the top ham acting 2 be seen from time to time but not 2 often. Overall it's a great popcorn movie, in fact, it's better than 99% of Hollywoods biggest blockbusters.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
I just saw the indie "THE MINISTERS"
This little indie is the second movie John Leguizamo produced and stared in for Franc Reyes, the other being Empire, Reyes first film.
When I first saw the movie poster...I though...meh...they are trying to capitalize on the Boondock Saints 2 that hit theaters around the same time, but because I love Johnny Legz and Harvey Keitel...I figured I would give this a shot. While there are slight similarities between the two films THE MINISTERS is no Boondock Saints..and that is a good thing. It is original, and visceral in it's own right. The story is a large one that spans decades but is crammed into a one hour and twentyfive minute film, because of this it seems like the writing is rushed...or perhaps it is the editing which makes the film feel a bit rushed... I guess Reyes does not have the clout to pull of a 3 hour flick yet in his career...this film could have been allot better with more time spent on character development and story arch. That being said I do not think this was a bad movie at all...in fact I LOVED IT.
Johnny Legs plays twins Dante and Perfecto, from the Bronx New York. The two had an accident in the 70's and feel like the lord has given them the go ahead for a little divine vengeance. Reyes does well with what he is allotted in terms of run time, and John Leguizamo and Harvey Keitel are stellar...in the film would have not been the same without them. This was one of Keitel's best performances in years...if not ever.
The story develops in a way that can be a bit predictable because of the pacing but it is action packed, and highly entertaining....a must see to wrap up your year.![]()

EXTRACT
I loved this flick. ( and not cuz it has my future baby moma Mila Kunis in it)..though it was really nothing like what I expected, I really enjoyed it. It is more of a mid life crisis flick than a straight out comedy..but J.K Simmons, and Ben Afflack do have characters that you will laugh out loud at. The Movie is about a guy in his mid life who owns an extract plant, is not getting regular sex from his wife, is in the process of selling the plant...and the stress, and strains of his life.
over all it was unexpected and pretty good![]()

But to those who do - I strongly recommend it, can't get over how great it is.

Inglorious Basterds (in Blu-Ray) I expected a goofier movie, but anyway some surprising cameos (like Rod Taylor playing Winston Churchill) a good plot and most of all the amazing performance of Christoph Waltz as SS Standartenführer (Colonel) Hans Landa, 'The Jewhunter'. Brilliant actor.

Agreed!
He has already won a Golden Globe for the performance...and I can smell Oscar for him. His character encapsulated articulate threatening horror for me...and he did it so so well.
Nice to see you Mike..btw.
Thought I would add...I saw Inglorious Basterds on DVD way after it left theaters. I love Quintin it's just that this flick didn't seem in keeping with my idea of what he does. After watching the film...several times...I've come to the conclusion that the film is brilliant on levels that many films simply don't know exist...let alone can not achieve, and I also realized that for once...I was not his target audience.
Normally Quintin makes movies for men, ages 18 to 35. He makes Noirish, socially relevant, crime movies..and one samurai flick.lol. I knew of this film and it's stars and development for years, way before Deathproof came out. I was dying to see it until I saw the trailers...and until now I could not explain it.
This film has a sophistication that is beyond most Americans, but is almost native to most Europeans. And in that way perhaps they take it for granted as we in America do so many things. Quite simply, the versatility of communication in Europe, in my opinion, is one of the most sophisticated things about it's every citizen. Out of all of the many people I've met in my travels through Europe most if not all are bi-lingual (you can not say that about the average American..even though there is a huge Spanish, Hispanic population and it would serve everyone to speak some Spanish in America..the average American throughout the continent is still adverse to even trying to learn another language). Most people I met in my travels know three, four, and five languages...especially those I've met in Paris. To be able to effectively communicate your thoughts is a power that should not be taken for granted.
In my opinion that is what Inglorious Basterds is at it's heart about. That unwillingness of the American culture towards the inevitable acceptance of world sophistication. The target audience for this film was the European. It is a film to glorify them, and condemn them. A film to point out exactly how single minded and ignorantly brash Americans can be..and usually are. A film to illustrate to everyone the nature of horror and survival.
There is a law in the US, in most states it is applicable. The law is. You can never yell fire in a theater. The law made so that the people would not rush the door to get out and trample and kill each other in a notion of survival. The question that I've heard all through out my life...sometimes as a joke..sometimes as a sincere inquiry is, what if there is a real fire.
For me..and I believe if you take a look at it close..this film is yelling fire in the theater of American tolerance and sophistication. And...it succeeds. ![]()

Michael Jackson - This Is It
This movie is really annoying, mainly because MJ is so damn impressive in it! I was supposed to see that stuff live!
I have been putting off watching it, because I expected to be disappointed. The last time I saw him perform was the 2001 tribute concerts, where he seemed old, odd and generally well past the top. Now, 8 years later, he seemed more like the MJ of Dangerous, full of energy and talent.
Not to forget, all the songs on This Is It are live, no playback or voice-over (slight exception for Jam).
I think this movie does a lot to salvage MJ's fading reputation. The O2-concerts would have been a tremendous comeback... it's a terrible shame that it never came to pass.

Pyke Kubic (Sean Bean) has a twin brother who is involved in a botched bank robbery where they are forced 2 toss the loot over a bridge b4 they get gaught and sent 2 prison. Chris Hemsworth is the guy who's car the loot lands on. He sees it as pennies from heaven and takes his wife (Played by Victoria Profeta) on a wild spending spree. Then Mr Kubic comes to collect and like the poster says "Payback is a bastard."
I really enjoyed this one. It's a really good story, really well done. Sean Bean is on top form as Pyke Kubic and U owe it 2 him 2 seek it out and watch it, and believe me...

I just saw a super cool lil' indie film
WRONG TURN AT TAHOE
This lil' indie noir has a small but great cast, headed by Miguel Ferrer ( one of the coolest actors in the world.) Harvey Kietel, and Cuba Gooding Jr (who is hit or miss for me...but he really hits it out of the park this time.) and rounded out by other recognizable talent from the B-List.
Cuba plays Joshua, the right hand man of a underworld boss played by Ferrer. When Joshua gets a piece of mis-information and relays it to his boss a litany of kick ass action explodes onto the screen. The story of revenge and survival is brought to screen in a fabulouse way. The direction, cinematography, and FX where very very well done and it leaves the view feeling the visceral spin of organized crime. This movie is small enough for you never to have heard of it...but the stars carry it so well that I believe it is simply a matter of time that this film becomes a cult classic much in the same way that Boondock Saints and Resevoir dogs did.
A must see for indie or noir fans.![]()

I must agree with you E. I haven't been having any free time lately. But last weekend I saw this and I was very impressed. Some movies get carried away with all the special CGI effects and the story goes to crap. This however nailed it! Nice to hear from you by the way.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
so...I finally got around to seeing AVATAR![]()
I don't know why it took me so long to watch this flick..maybe cuz I'm a B movie whore...anywhooo...
There was nothing really original about the flick accept for the technology used to make it. It was the classic story of a disabled person who looses his disability in a fantasy world....though this theme is more popular in animations than in live action movies...there are some live actioners that do it as well..It was also a story of respecting nature, and accepting foreign people and things, another theme not so original. (with the themes and visuals Avatar seems to draw heavily from Ferngully and Delgo combined into one story)

I thoroughly enjoyed this film despite is derivative nature because I believe now that it can stand as THE film of these themes and the visuals and direction where breath taking and awesome.
The only real original thing about AVATAR is how they chose to show it to the audience and it is beyond spectacular.![]()

Oh...this might be my last post...cuz I may die of a NerdGasm ![]()
I recently got a hold of the uber rare Roger Corman TV show
Black Scorpion The Television Series
This show is high on camp, and really fun super-hero/ super-villain cliches. I love a great cheese fest and this..oh..this...I have no words (*begins to weep) I saw the first two episodes and ..and while Michelle Lintell is no Joan Severance ( who's greatest assets are on her chest and behind her waist) she is quite the looker and let's face it that is like 20% of the Black Scorpion....plus Michelle is a better actress ( not a big feat)
The editing is a cheesy...the villains are sometimes goofy, and the whole thing seems a bit tongue in cheek...but they are dead serious...and that is what makes it soo fun.
I am two episodes into a 22 episode adventure and am STOKED!
This is one of Roger Corman's great works IMHO... And I mean that sincerely...I hold him in the same high regard that I hold Stan Lee of comic book greatness.
In short...if you all never hear from me again..please contact Mr. Roger Corman, and let him know that I died with a smile on my face..and cheese on my DVD player.![]()

Yeah, that was one heap to laugh at... especially since I sat next to one of the 2 men in the sold-out theatre, who had been dragged along by his GF. We had a blast
Favorite scenes:
- "Hey, look, it's not the Village People - it's the Forest People!" (when the pack comes out of the wood half-naked)
- "Dum-di-dum we're running through the forest in slow-mo and stupid clothes" (Alices Vision of their future through Aro)
- Everytime Fagface comes on screen and the theatre goes groupie.
"This is MADNESS - THIS IS TWILIGHT!"
One cinematic experience to enjoy
I hope by fagface, you meant Rob.Don't see what they see in him. He's NOT that attractive.

It's also one the best films I've seen in a long long time.
Yes the ending is highly suspect, the plot is a little thin and I'd really struggle 2 put in2 words what it is about this film that makes it so good but it is, it's brilliant.

I'm a big fan of Johnny Depp and Tim Burton but they do sometimes make really bad movies like "Sweeney Todd" and this nonsense. Re: Last Movie I saw...
Just got an early copy of
MALICE IN WONDERLAND
...with Snoop Dogg having an album of the same name, and Tim Burton doing a big budget adaptation to the Lewis Carrol story this small film which had been seeking distribution for almost a year finally gets to shine.
This film is simply AWESOME It keeps with the idea of the Lewis Carol story brilliantly. When I first saw it I assumed that it would be to Alice in wonderland what the movie Freeway was for Little Red Riding Hood, I was wrong. This story keeps more to the actual source material not only in feel, but also with character and plot-line development. What sounds a bit off of kooky actually works in a way that left me in awe. This movie has instantly become one of my favorite lil' indies.
Acted to the nines by everyone involved, most of whome I've never heard of save for Maggie Grace who was in last years sleeper hit "TAKEN", directed with an artsy flair and delivered with endearing locations, and visuals one can not help but to fall down the rabbit hole again.
I say go watch *SOMETHING FOR YOUR HEAD*
and get yourself a copy of Malice in wonderland![]()

For the first half hour or so I was thinkin' man...this is just a gore filled torture/splatter flick...and then they began the story of the couple...
again WTF....and well I'd be lying if I said I understood it all....but it was kinda late and I had just fed my head...so...you'll have to excuse me.
I can't say that I liked it...but I also can not say I disliked it. There was enough gross-out horror to make me say "wholly GEEBUS" more than once. The direction was kooky, but original...and inspired in many places. The goofyness of some of the sets and props allowed for the viewer to keep a distance from the content...so it is graphic, it's just not near pornographic in the way that films like Gregory Wilson's "THE GIRL NEXT DOOR" or Eli Roth's "HOSTEL 2" are at times. There is definitely more of a "Film" in this movie than in those...I just don't know which best way to define it yet...At first I thougth Shigeo Ôsako was 'Beat' Takeshi...but the movie is new...and the actor too young..he's got a great look though.
all in all I have to say that it is probaly a film that I will watch again..not because it was so great...just because the wierdness of it all is haunting...and the least I can due is contrive meaning from it even if there really may be none.

There is nothing in this movie that U wont have seen b4, it's loads of Cockney villians avin' a large one and tryin 2 look mean but it's still a pretty good film. U might find some dodgy acting, dialogue and plot twist here but U'll also find some damn fine actors doing their thing (Michael Masden, Philip Davis and Steven Berkoff) and a story that kept me watching throughout.
I'd recommend it if U like the London gangster type movies and want something interesting but not 2 taxing.

This is worth watching just 2 see a true screen legend turn in a true screen legends performance. Al Pacino is Oscar worthy in this film as Doctor-assisted suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian as are Susan Sarandon and John Goodman in their respective roles. Overall it may be a little morbid and depressing but it's well worth checking out. 8/10

Re: Last Movie I saw...
^ That looks really interesting!
I finally geeked around to watching
KICK ASS!
Though I was anxiously anticipating the release of this film...I did not rush out to go see it. I love, love, love, the comic....and I had this lurking fear that they would ruin it. Director Matthew Vaugn is known for having movies that look awesome as trailers, but fail as feature lengths. (ie: Stardust...I would even say Layer Cake was a better trailer than a movie)..but it seems like the third time is a charm cuz Kick Ass really does kick ass ( so much so that the original comic scribe and artist are making a sequal "Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall"
Allot was changed from the comic to the screen, but most of it I can really understand. The biggest change and disappointment for me was Big Daddy's costume, it did not do justice. Over all the movie had the feel of the comics and I'm glad they didn't tone down the violence for a PG rating like Marvel does with most of their movies.
I say go see it!![]()

Re: Last Movie I saw...
so...save for the above flick...all of my anticipated film to watch this summer have let me down. Clash of the Titans was horrible, Wolfman was a steaming pile of dogpoo, Alice in Wonderland should have been called through the looking glass as IMHO it was closer to that story...so..I've gone back to what I can trust...watching B flicks.
Just when you think I've seen every shlocky, sub-par, superhero flick ever made...I tell you I just watched.
NICK FURY AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D (starring the king cheese himself...THE HOFF)
Now this movie's reputation far proceeds it. It is in the annals of superhero movies that couldn't. Never given a true release on DVD it now lives out the rest of it's life as a late night cable TV regular.
I love cheesy chit like this...and so...I LOVED IT! It was not super cheesy as David Goyer (can you believe it the guy who wrote some of the coolest superhero movies ever) wrote this. The Hoff looks enough like Nick Fury to take your mind off of what he calls "acting". Lisa Rinna also co-stars in this, and though I know she is known as an actress, this was the first thing I've ever see her in, and thank god cuz she delivers lines like New York Chinese restaurants deliver food...cold and late.
But the story was kinda fun, and they did stick to the Nick Fury Mythos, it actually had some memorable moments..not the least of which was Sandra Hess trying to sound like she had a German accent
...I guess memorable stuff should be the "good" stuff...but in this case it's not.

I just saw the Book of Eli
I am a big fan of the Hughes Brothers, and an even bigger fan of Denzel Washington.
I got an early pre-order of this DVD. I went in with very little information about the movie, but loved the actors involved (Gary Oldman is in this one too).
This movie takes place in a distopian future, a future that it is implied is the result of religious war. This movie has tons of religious overtones and for the most part religion is a big part of the story arch...but it doesn't beat you over the head with it and it doesn't feel preachy. I have not seen action as kick ass as it is in this film since Kill Bill, and in one scene in particular I feel there is a wink and a nod to the Tarintino samurai flick. The story is excellently told, and the action is practically non stop, with an ending that even I didn't see coming.
Overall another solid effort from the Hughes Brothers....and yet another film of theirs that will probably live on in Cult history.

Now this is probably not an appropriate movie when U consider recent events in Cumbria UK but that doesn't stop it being an awesome movie. It's about a guy called Bill (Brendan Fletcher) who is having troubles at home so decides 2 build himself a suit of armour and go on the rampage shooting indescrimately at the local townsfolks. The guy who plays his best friend Evan (Shaun Sipos) is a ringer 4 Brad Pitt, I had 2 keep reminding myself it wasn't him. This is the kind of movie that stays with U well after the crdits have rolled and it's well worth a watch.

... meh. The lady at the library said I was gonna "cry my eyes out". Weeelll - I didn't. I guess I'm cold like that
No, seriously. It didn't touch me. I felt like it was an overall weird attempt at being "different" from other romantic dramas. Overly done and the music was tooo friggin much. Never thought I could dislike a movie with two such heavenly creatures as Rosario Dawson and Will Smith in it - turns out I can.
Like. I never knew about this movie, it was a random pick. If you want a session of shaking your head about the carelessness with which workers were exposed to radioactive material as of a few meager decades ago, this is your movie.
Besides - Cher, Meryl Streep & Kurt Russell. A nice dose of retro-hotness.
OK. I get this is a classic. And it has Robert Redford in it. And lots of cute outfits and jewels and plush housing and great scenery.
But I find screenplay, dialogues and camera (especially that sparkle-filter, whatever its name is) utterly... lame. I didn't get it.
I mean, I love F. Scott Fitzgerald. Absolutely ADORE. But that movie... doesn't do anything for me. And Mia Farrow is straight annoying. She's probably supposed to be, but still. Meh.

Easily the best Batman movie since the Dark Knight ( if you are not a dork like me you would not know that Warner Brothers and DC has released about three films with the Batman in it since Nolan's masterpiece was on the big screen)
The Hills run red
I picked this up cuz one of my favorite anthers wrote the screenplay. It was mildly entertaining...but fell apart in the end.
I also saw
...this movie is just derivative trash. I wanted so so so badly to like this movie, and enjoyed the scene with the RZA in it...but in the end it is derivative of much better films. Instead of wasting your time with Repo Men...go check out.

I watched this yesterday...
I was quite looking 4ward 2 this because Stallone was directing and I enjoyed his recent "Rocky" and "Rambo" movies but this is absolute tosh. Just a bunch of aging hollywood moviestars waving their cocks around. The plot is wafer thin, just ya typical good guys/ bad guys nonsense and the action scenes are nothing U've not seen better elsewhere. My virdict... Save ya money, go watch this instead...
This is a much better film. Michael Masden takes a diner full of people hostage and indulges in one of his favourite past times, namely tying people to chairs and torturing them (Res Dogs anyone.
) This is a very tense one location movie with some star turn performances and well worth a watch.

I don't know GW..I've seen both of those flicks lately..I liked the fluffy action er that is Expendables..guess I just like the novelty of it..cuz you're right..it's trash...but....The Killing Jar is one that I had heard so much rumbling about on the indie circuit and just look at the cast...I was dying to see it..it let me down. I thought Madson just phoned it in and gave very little to the role...I was disjointed that Busy was only in it for such a short time..and I felt the story felt rushed and underdeveloped each scene segue was just a brutal act of violence...I wanted to like this flick all through out...but couldn't.

One of whom has been recently incarcerated after a 'job' that took in over five hundred thousand dollars. The incarcerated one calls his brother, also Sean Bean to find retrieve, and split the money with him. The money was thrown out of the window during a police chase and the only thing they know is that it hit a white station wagon with wood panel siding.
The writing in this movie is not the most original, but Sean Bean, Chris Hemsworth, and Victoria Proefeta turn in excellent performances that draw you into the sometimes unbelievable situation and give you free reign to suspend your disbelief. Cash at it's core is a story of personal morals, survival, and humanity that is wrapped in the vestiges of luck violence and fear. I enjoyed every single frame, line, scene, what have you of this little sleeper indie and if there is ever a sequel, which the way it ends suggests there may be I will be the first one to buy it. Cash is not the most original story but what does in terms of bringing together a well rounded story, and putting forth characters that you either love, or love to hate can not be denied.

Found it...watched it...loved it!!

Re: Last Movie I saw...
This week ah have mostly been watching, the movies of Paul Andrew Williams...
It all started when my brother recommended this one...
This is a really good film that works on the fear that the middle classes have about the young hooded teenagers that roam our streets these days. A typical suburban couple settle down 4 a quiet night of dinner and TV until everything changes and they are held hostage in their own home by armed youths intent on waiting 4 their son 2 come home. A very tense and very watchable movie with some very good first time performances.
So then I decided 2 check out the directors other movies which included this little gem...
This is a great film based around a cold killing crimelord, a small time pimp, a hooker and a little homeless girl. I won't tell U 2 much about it cuz I don't want 2 spoil it 4 anyone who might take the time 2 see it but I thought that even though it had many flaws it was a really good watch.
Then there was this...
This was brilliant. Andy Serkis (Gollum from Lord Of The Rings) and Reece Shearsmith (The League Of Gentlemen) kidnap Jennifer Ellison (Brookside) and take her 2 a remote cottage, where all hell breaks loose. Now the monster dude in this film is probably one of the worst movie monsters I've seen in ages but don't let that put U off this movie is cool with some real laugh out loud moments. See it.

Re: Last Movie I saw...
King of the Avenue
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1560963/
A little indie that was competently directed by Ryan Combs. With mostly solid talent in front of the camera King of the Avenue is a low budget, eerie, violent, and dreamy little work of art. The Story is not a new one, but the direction, Faustian story, and characterizations are all top notch. The story is of a young boy who was adopted by his mother's boyfriend, a notorious gangster, after she died. He grew up in an environment of violence and feels it is his destiny to continue the legacy of his father. It echos familiar movies such as Boys in the hood, or Menace to Society, but has a unique take on the formula. The budget is the real restriction on this movie because you get the feeling Combs wanted it to be more, just had to deal with what he got...he chooses his shots well, and the editing helps to create what is missing in terms of budget.
Without a doubt though, this movie is carried by the actors. Simon Rex is fun to watch and hits the spot with his portrayal of a white urban male trying to live up to modern urban masculine mythology and manifesting his own destiny through terror and violence with no regard of it's over all impact. Ving Rames in a dual role took me awhile to warm up to, but he delivers. Acted in an unassuming and brutal manner he brings the nightmares behind the dreams of success to a sudden reality. Esai Morales makes a quick cameo as the prince of darkness, he does well but lack of budget shows in the overall product. Erick Nathan as Cal was the hip break out unknown for me. His delivery is sharp and believable, a major support for an overall solid cast.
An overall indictment of greed and blind determination this film comes at you in expected ways and then turns you on your head. A bloody story of ambition, greed, love, lust, betrayal, and the other asskickeries of movie making. King of the Avenue is a smooth and sexy, yet violent and dreadful urban fairytale that should not be missed.

Last movie I saw was a Dutch movie.
It's called The happy housewive (de gelukkige huisvrouw).
It's about a woman who get's pregnant and
during the (what's it called again?) labour(?) she goes in a psychose.
Not really a happy housewive..
And my motherly feelings have dissepeared.
Brrr, it's wasn't a nice sight to see her having a child the way she got hers...
I'm not totally useless!!! I can be used as a bad example...

I see an Oscar in Tyler's future. I have to give praises to...all of the woman in the movie, like Janet Jackson, Loretta Divine, Whoopie Goldberg, Phlyisha Rishad, Kimberly Elise, Thandie Newton, Anika Nonie Rose & so many more. This is a must see!!

I have no words for this.
OK, actually I do have words...
Painfully obvious hell-bent symbolism-orgy void of substance trying like hell to create depth by amassing tons upon tons of loaded yet insignificant imagery and comprise some sort of meaning that shall remain buried in a swamp of over-the-top philosophism paired with a REALLY annoying use of light filters & depleted, overly dramatic music.
I should've just gone to bed after dinner. That would've been more beneficial to my mental health...
EDIT: Updated the picture source.

Colombiana - Awesome, kickass action... with ZOE. In tight jumpsuits. Everything else is irrelevant.
Machete - Probably my favorite action movie so far. Trejo is the best - and Ms. Rodriguez doesn't hurt either.

The Avengers - Welp - buckets of mancandy (Banner & Stark nerding about in the lab gave me LIFE), nice FX, funny dialogue. The story was crap though (but also - unimportant, if we're being honest). Bonus points: hero butt in 3D. Hehe. ![]()
